Financing a HomeBefore you begin finding a new place, you should speak with a loan officer answer your financial questions so that you feel comfortable with the banking process and the amount of money that you want to spend. The officer will help you make an informed decision and also allow you to obtain a 'pre-qualification' letter from the bank. For a multiple offer situation, this will make for a much stronger buyer - you can choose any banker you would like, and you may want to talk to a few to see who has the best porgram to fit your needs.Selecting an AttorneyBefore you sign an agreement of sale, you might consider asking an attorney to look it over and tell you if it protects your interests. If you have already signed your agreement of sale, you might still consider having an attorney review it. An attorney can also help you prepare for the settlement. In some areas attorneys act as settlement/closing agents or as escrow agents to handle the settlement. An attorney who does this will not solely represent your interests, since, as settlement/closing agent, he or she may also be representing the seller, the lender and others as well. |
